Description

The Senior Operating Room Assistant supports the effective and efficient functioning of the Surgical Services Department at Providence Everett - Colby Campus. The individual in this role is responsible for assisting with operating room turnover between surgical cases, providing patient transport, and performing Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) functions such as clerical support, communication, and supply management. The position requires direct interaction with patients and clinical staff to support high-quality patient care and efficient workflows. Assists the surgical staff with patient care including patient transport, supplies, equipment, instruments, and care of the environment. Assists with completion of case carts and preparation of positioning devices and equipment. Assists the surgical team with preparation of the surgical suite including opening of sterile items to the surgical field. Assists in the training of other Perioperative Care Associates. Assists with quality improvement processes. The SORA works under guidance of the and the direction of the Surgical Support Supervisor/Nurse Manager. Functions as a collaborative and participative member of an interdisciplinary team, consistent with the mission, vision and values of the Surgical Services department and PRMCE.

Required Qualifications:

  • Upon hire: National Provider BLS - American Heart Association
  • 1 year - Job-related experience in a hospital or clinical setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training: Graduate from a hospital-based Nursing Assistant program or relevant healthcare support training
  • 1 year - Operating Room Assistant, CNA, HUC, or related perioperative support role
