Metro & HFC Network designer

Location: Philadelphia PA – 100% Onsite

Job Description: Network Engineer – SME  – Metro-E, Ethernet, y.1564/RFC2544 testing, Cloud Services, SDN/NFV, DEV-Ops. This position will primarily support Metro-Ethernet with a focus our current MEF compliant services and new products and services related to POR and NON- POR planning. An additional focus will be in Cloud Services and their integration with our Metro-E product suite.

•            Metro-E (Ethernet Services)

•            SMB – EoHFC, Cable Plant

•            Cloud Strategy D2C (AWS, Azure and Cloud Partners)

•            Security Edge Support

Summary Overview

•            Y.1564/RFC2544 testing and adherence to SLA network objectives

•            AWS and Azure Cloud strategy – understanding of cloud products and integration with Metro-E and SDN based services

•            Experience with cable industry standard practices, interfaces, operating systems, and protocols such as DOCSIS 3.0/3.1, SIP, and PacketCable

•            Excellent understanding of TCP/IP, IPv6, BGP, OSPF, Multicast, and MPLS, working knowledge of IS-IS

•            Prior extensive experience surrounding Ethernet and IP Service (Ethernet Private Line, Private LAN, Dedicated Internet, IPVLN, Internet, and Managed Router)

•            MEF 2.0 and 3.0 understanding and support

•            BGP experience at an ISP level both Corporate and Customer facing

•            SME support in Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocols that support Business Services

•            OAM, CFM understanding and support

•            RFC2544, Y.1564 and Y.1731 understanding and support

•            IPv4 and IPv6 understanding and support

•            WAVE Services understanding and support

•            Engineering position focused on Network Automation, Software Defined Networks and Network Virtualization within the Commercial Services line of business.

•            Engineer will participate in the evaluation, design, trial and deployment of our next generation network (NGN) products and service delivery.

•            Experience with hands on across a national Metro-E, multi-vendor network is preferred. A background supporting a service provider network is a plus.

•            Engineer will partner with architecture, BU, service delivery and operations to drive on- going evolution and support of the current platform.

•            This individual should have practical knowledge of managed services for customer network implementations.

•            Individual should have practical knowledge of large enterprise network implementations in various industries.

•            Background in design and deployment of complex data networks in the Midsize and Enterprise Market highly preferred.

•            Working knowledge of IPS/IDS (Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems), DDoS, Firewalls and Security event management.

•            CCNP, JNCIP certification and equivalent working experience

•            It is desirable to have in the cloud management systems like OpenStack and VMware vCloud, Network management products, OSS products and familiarity with industry standards, specifically ETSI

•            Operation Escalations – Adv Ops, Service Delivery and Service Assurance support

•            Tail-F, Yang, XML, JSON, Java, Perl, Python UNIX Scripting languages required

•            Experience of building high-availability (HA) production-grade solutions in virtualised environments

•            Familiar with PostgreSQL, Oracle, Sybase, MSSQL

•            Any exposure to supporting Business KPI’s, network metrics and performance analysis is

•            a plus.

•            Work within Agile/Scrum methodology and approach
