TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION YOU MUST HAVE AN ACTIVE TS/SCI W/ FULL SCOPE POLYGRAPH SECURITY CLEARANCE (U.S. CITIZENSHIP REQUIRED)
  • Hands on NetApp experience a MUST
  • Hands‑on engineering experience with NetApp and other storage technologies and concepts (SAN & NAS)
  • Knowledge and understanding of protocols such as S3, CIFS, NFS, iSCSI, and Fiber Channel Block Storage (SAN)
  • Experience with capacity planning and sizing storage and backup environments (Veritas NetBackup, Cohesity, Rubrik, & CommVault)
  • Performance tuning and optimizing storage and backup environments
  • Data center migrations and storage replication technologies
  • Senior‑level experience designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining large‑scale systems across multiple hardware platforms and data centers
  • High availability concepts with practical experience in storage environments
  • Fundamental hardware concepts: disk, memory, CPU, NIC, HBA, firmware, RAID, performance concepts (I/O, paging, swapping, system calls), iSCSI, Fiber Channel, Ethernet
  • Essential TCP/IP concepts: TCP, UDP, ICMP, SMTP, SNMP, LDAP, DNS, NTP, etc.
  • Connecting storage arrays to Hypervisor Technologies (Nutanix, VMware VCF, OpenStack)
  • Security best practices and federal hardening requirements (FISMA, STIG, etc.)
  • CompTIA Security+ or similar certification for IAT Level II DoD 8570 compliance
  • Proficient written and oral communication skills
  • Strong collaborative attitude and ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to take direction
Responsibilities
  • Design, architect, configure, deploy, upgrade, and support various storage and backup platforms and associated management tools
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot storage systems and related technologies
  • Adhere to engineering and architecture standards and participate in technical review meetings
  • Participate in the evaluation, deployment, management, and integration of new technologies in alignment with other engineers, architects, and technical service lanes
  • Provide incident support and participate in on‑call rotation during off‑hours and weekends
  • Create and maintain documentation: logical/physical diagrams, run books, and other technical engineering documents
  • Demonstrate initiative and commitment to optimizing systems and processes
  • Oversee installation of new storage hardware and software according to SOPs
  • Oversee updates to hardware, OS, and software to provide required functionality and security
  • Ensure systems are monitored and statistics (capacity, performance, utilization) are collected and regularly reviewed
  • Keep abreast of current developments in storage and backup technology to assist Federal staff in assessing future direction

Minimum Technical Experience
  • Experience scripting with Java using Linux
  • Strong background with Docker using Maven
  • Proficiency with Git/Gitlab; knowledge and experience with CI/CD and GitOps Principles
  • Experience with Helm, Kubectl, and Kubernetes
Preferred
  • Experience with Flux and Kustomize
  • Experience with Kafka, Kyverno and/or Minio
Desired Experience

Associates degree with fifteen (15) years of relevant experience or bachelor’s degree with twelve (12) years of relevant experience.

Education

High School Diploma with 20 years of relevant experience.

Compensation

We are committed to providing fair and competitive compensation. The salary range for this position is $78,000 to $250,000 per year. This range reflects the compensation offered across the locations where we hire. The exact salary will be determined based on the candidate's work location, specific role, skill set, and level of expertise.
