Job description

Maintenance Worker II

Maintenance Worker - Full time with benefits

Campbell County is seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker II to join our team. The shift is Monday-Friday, 7am-3:30pm. This position offers full benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability and Life Insurance along with Virginia State's Retirement Plan (VRS). Campbell County has a generous Vacation and Leave Plan including Holidays, Personal Days, Floating Holidays and Community Service Leave to use.

Position will be open till filled.



Make a daily difference in the Campbell County organization and locality through: hard work, open and honest communication, ongoing improvement and accountability.



Performs with excellence, the following tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Performs or assists with routine maintenance of buildings and grounds such as: painting, minor electrical, plumbing, repairing windows, hanging doors, replacing locks, repairing and/or replacing sidewalks, patching and repairing roofs, carpentry, cabinetry, etc.;
  • Moves equipment, supplies, and furniture as requested;
  • Cuts grass, weed eats, prunes bushes, and rakes leaves, as required;
  • Provide support for County events;
  • Shovels and pushes snow and applies chemicals to walkways as necessary;
  • Replace light bulbs and light fixtures as necessary;
  • Performs other duties as assigned or required

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • One year of related experience
  • Valid Virginia Driver’s License and insurable under County’s Policy.
  • Requires completion of National Incident Management System IS-700 and IS-100 within 90 days of employment.

Core Skill Sets:

  • Knowledge of basic safety as it relates to maintenance;
  • Ability to safely operate grass cutting equipment;
  • Basic working knowledge of hand and power tools;
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods of time;
  • Basic understanding and ability to utilize the county’s adopted software platform.


In addition to the standard maintenance duties listed above, a Maintenance Worker II has the following requirements:


Responsibilities:

  • Perform monthly preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Plan and manage small building related projects.

Qualifications:

  • One additional year of experience for a total of 2;
  • Desired: one year of supervisory experience.
