ANNOUNCEMENT & PURPOSE OF POSITION
The Pottawattamie County Auditor's Office is announcing the hiring of an Election Coordinator!
An individual in this position supports the Election Administrator in the planning, coordination, and execution of all county, city, school, and federal elections. This position assists in ensuring elections are conducted accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and established procedures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Maintains and processes voter registration records in compliance with applicable laws.
Prepares, tests, and distributes election equipment, ballots, and supplies.
Supports absentee voting, ballot processing, and election night procedures.
Assists with recruitment and training of temporary election workers.
Maintains election records, reports, maps, and candidate filings; verifies document accuracy.
Secures polling locations and monitors precinct operations, including ADA compliance.
Provides customer service to voters, candidates, and public officials.
Performs related duties to support the administration of county, city, school, and federal elections.
ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND ABILITY
Knowledge of voter registration and absentee ballot procedures.
Knowledge of and ability to apply applicable county, state, and federal election laws.
Ability to apply policies and procedures accurately and consistently.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and frequent interruptions in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to maintain accurate records and handle confidential information with discretion.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle safely and travel as required.
Maintain confidentiality and demonstrate tact and trustworthiness with sensitive information.
ESSENTIAL EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION AND/OR LICENSES
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Valid driver's license at the time of hire and maintain throughout the course of employment
Reliable transportation for movement to and from various locations and jurisdictions
Strong attention to detail
Willing and able to work extended hours during elections
Prior experience in county election procedures preferred
