Job Description

The Director of Online & eLearning is a newly created position housed in the Office of the Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. The successful candidate will provide university‑level long‑term and day‑to‑day management of e‑learning activities, including online and hybrid courses, programs, and quality assurance.

Responsibilities
  • Work with faculty to develop unified course format and packaging to provide students with seamless, user‑friendly online learning across various courses and to explore and develop new fully online/hybrid course offerings (graduate and undergraduate).
  • Meet regularly with Deans, Chairs, and Departmental Program Committees to develop and revise responsive plans for the Colleges and Departments’ initiatives in online education and to revise online curriculum and program delivery.
  • Collaborate with the Faculty Information Technology Committee (FITC) to update policies and administrative practices and to work with academic stakeholders to develop a strategic plan for online/hybrid learning.
  • Coordinate the approval process for new and revised online/hybrid courses and programs and monitor faculty courses for compliance with policies.
  • Develop faculty workshops on online pedagogy, including applying the Quality Matters rubric, and certify teaching online.
  • Conduct formative assessments of faculty online teaching abilities and recommend opportunities for improvement.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in online education, distance education, or related field.
  • Experience managing the delivery of online or hybrid academic programs.
  • Good writing skills for higher education communications.
  • Understanding of adult learning theories and online learning theories.
  • Ability to provide professional development for faculty.
  • Minimum of three years’ experience with a learning management system (Blackboard Learn preferred).
  • Quality Matters Certified or OLC Certified.
