We provide planning, environmental consulting, and regulatory coordination for large-scale infrastructure and resiliency programs in the DC metro area. Our goal is to facilitate major climate change initiatives and enhance our local community. We support developers, architects, and contractors in navigating complex local regulations for large-scale development projects.


Summary:InterAgency is seeking a full-time Project Manager to join our Commercial Permitting team. The Project Manager will work under the supervision of the Senior Project Management Team to support clients throughout the permitting lifecycle. This role involves initiating, tracking, and coordinating construction permits for large-scale new development projects in the District of Columbia and surrounding jurisdictions. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and highly organized, with strong communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and submit permit applications via online portals to regulatory agencies across the D.C. Metro region
  • Communicate directly with agency officials to confirm submittal requirements, verify processes, follow up on application statuses, and resolve permit-related issues
  • Schedule and participate in meetings with agency representatives and clients as needed
  • Track and manage permit applications through all review stages, ensuring timely responses to comments and required revisions
  • Conduct quality control (QC) reviews on client-provided permit documents prior to submission
  • Identify potential permitting risks and schedule impacts, and collaborate with Senior Project Managers to develop mitigation strategies
  • Respond promptly to client inquiries via email and phone, maintaining a high level of customer service
  • Prepare project updates, reports, and presentation materials for client meetings
  • Provide regular internal updates on permit status and contribute to team meetings and project planning discussions


Qualification Requirements:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience: At least 5 years of project coordination within the construction, permitting, engineering or related industries.
  • Education: Associate degree or equivalent work experience
  • Skills: Strong organization, communication, and project management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field
  • Experience coordinating with municipal or regulatory agencies within the DC-metro area
  • Familiarity with permitting software or online submission portals


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily with or without reasonable accommodation.
  • Work is generally done sitting, talking, hearing, and typing. Visual acuity to use a keyboard, prepare and analyze data and figures; transcribing, viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading.


Employment Conditions:

  • Type: Full-time, exempt employment
  • Office location: Bethesda, MD
  • Must be able to reliably commute to client locations within the DC Metro area.
  • Hybrid remote work after initial training period.
  • Three (3) days in office and two (2) days of remote work per week.
  • Regular business hours: 8:00 am to 5:00 PM (EST)
