Job Description for: Electric Motor Winder

Sid Harvey’s an HVAC wholesale distributor of heating, cooling and refrigeration equipment and products is seeking a full-time employee for the Manufacturing Plant in Andrews, South Carolina.

Summary:

Sid Harvey’s is looking to fill an entry level position for an electric motor winder. The electric motor winder is responsible for assembling and testing electric motor and generator stators, armatures, or rotors. They file burrs from core slots using hand files, portable power files, scraper, lining slots with sheet insulations and insert coils into slots.

Reports To:

Supervisor

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assembles and tests electric motor generator stators, armatures, or rotors.
  • Inspects cores for defects and aligns laminations, using hammer drift.
  • Files burrs from core slots, using hand file, portable power file and scraper.
  • Lines slots with sheet insulation inserts coils into slots.
  • Cuts, strips, and bends wire leads at ends of coils, using pliers wire scrapers.
  • Twists leads together to connect coils.
  • Taps coil and end windings to shape, using hammer fiber block.
  • Tests windings for motor-housing clearance, grounds, and short circuits, using clearance gauge, growler, spring-steel blade, telephone receiver, insulation tester, and resistance bridge.
  • Winds new coils on armatures, stators, or rotors of used motors generators.
  • May rewind defective coils.
  • May be designated according to motor part wound as Armature Winder elec.
