Job description

Position Description
The Adjunct Instructor in the Occupational Therapy Doctorate Program (OTDP) is responsible for providing high-quality instruction and contributing to the delivery of the entry-level occupational therapy curriculum. This position supports student learning through the development, organization, and delivery of course content across TTUHSC campuses using educational technologies and innovative teaching methods.
The Adjunct Instructor collaborates with OTDP program director to ensure effective course administration, student assessment, and achievement of program learning outcomes. Responsibilities may include teaching assigned courses, facilitating laboratory and experiential learning activities, mentoring students, evaluating student performance, and supporting accreditation and programmatic initiatives. The individual will uphold the School of Health Professions' commitment to academic excellence, professional development, and evidence-based practice.
The ideal candidate is an experienced occupational therapist and educator with a passion for teaching and mentoring future occupational therapy practitioners. This individual demonstrates strong clinical expertise, effective communication skills, and the ability to translate occupational therapy theory and practice into engaging, meaningful learning experiences. The successful candidate is committed to fostering student success, professional growth, and excellence in occupational therapy education.
Major/Essential Functions
  • Teach courses within the online Post-Professional Occupational Therapy Doctorate Program as assigned by the program director.
  • Facilitate meaningful discussions, promote critical thinking, and provide constructive feedback to students to foster their professional growth.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years' experience in a clinical setting.
  • Knowledge of the Rehabilitation Treatment Specification System (RTSS).
  • Knowledge of the Subject-centered Integrative Learning Model in Occupational Therapy (SCIL-OT).
  • Prior teaching experience at the graduate level, preferably in occupational therapy or related healthcare disciplines.
  • Online teaching experience.

Pay Statement

Required Qualifications
  • Earned doctorate degree. Will consider those with a master's degree who are working toward a doctoral degree.
  • 3 years' clinical experience as an occupational therapist.
  • Current occupational therapy licensure.
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in areas relevant to advanced practice in occupational therapy as follows:
    • Management and Leadership.

Visa Information
TTUHSC, at its sole discretion, may initiate new H-1B I-129 visa petitions in accordance with the directive issued by Governor Abbott. Approval from the Texas Workforce Commission is required.
