Job Summary

The Major Projects - Senior Manager, Projects supports Vistra's nuclear growth initiatives by managing execution of complex nuclear projects, including Extended Power Uprates. This role requires proven experience delivering large-scale nuclear projects, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams, and ensuring safety, quality, cost, and schedule performance. The position provides critical project leadership while contributing to Vistra's mission of safe, reliable, and sustainable power generation.
The Senior Manager, Projects is responsible for coordinating with multiple senior leaders, multiple large-scale vendors, and the station to ensure execution of hundreds of separate modifications to the plant in support of Extended Power Uprates, a total cost of $1-2B.

Job Description

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage execution of Extended Power Uprate projects from design through implementation, ensuring safety, budget, schedule, and quality requirements are met.
  • Define project scope, deliverables, and success criteria in coordination with site engineering, licensing, and executive sponsors.
  • Oversee project budgets and resource plans, maintaining strict cost and performance controls.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams (engineering, licensing, operations, EPC partners, OEMs) to deliver system upgrades and plant capacity improvements.
  • Identify and manage technical, regulatory, and execution risks to support timely NRC approvals and project milestones.
  • Apply proven project management practices to optimize planning, execution, and outage performance.
  • Provide regular status updates and milestone reporting to project leadership and executive management.

Education, Experience, & Skill Requirements

  • At least 10 years of nuclear industry experience, with 5+ years in leadership roles.
  • Proven experience delivering complex projects as a lead project manager or site manager of projects.
  • Strong background in project management, engineering, and construction oversight.
  • Familiarity with finance, project controls, and cost/schedule management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and coordinate with EPCs, OEMs, and regulators.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to travel as required to support project execution.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required.
  • PMP certification required.
  • Professional Engineer (preferred).
