Job description

Monitor Technician

The Monitor Technician is responsible for observing, documenting, and reporting cardiac rhythms of patients of all ages, from infancy through geriatric, on telemetry. Additionally, this role performs Unit Secretary responsibilities, to include general clerical functions that ensure efficient and effective processing of information and communication.

Qualifications:

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • Completion of dysrhythmia for monitor techs course
  • Completion of a medical terminology course or a minimum of 6 months working in a healthcare setting
  • Minimum 6 months acute care hospital experience on a telemetry unit
  • Prior experience working as a telemetry/monitor tech
  • Prior experience working as a unit secretary

Certifications/Licenses:

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by American Heart Association required.
  • Crisis Prevention and Intervention (CPI) certification required within 90 days of hire required.
