Online math tutors help students work through specific problems or with general math issues. But instead of working in-person at a tutoring center or other location, online math tutors work with their clients through websites or online applications. As a math tutor, you may work with individual students or with a small group. Your responsibilities include determining what issues the student has, talking them through the problem, and making sure they understand the necessary math concepts. You work patiently with your students, explaining and demonstrating the mathematics material they are learning in a variety of ways to help them find the solution. Before the tutoring session is over, you also provide tips for studying and practice drills so that they can master the material.

Our team—recently voted Bend’s Best Tutor for 10 consecutive years—is looking for a part-time teacher to help our high school math students!
As a Sylvan Teacher, you will:
-Teach, motivate, and encourage students during instructional hour on Sylvan curriculum (paid training provided)
-Develop rapport with students to establish an engaging and safe learning environment that boosts confidence
-Use technology to enhance the learning environment
-Record daily student lessons and communicate regularly with admin staff
Requirements:
-Prior experience working with students in an academic setting
-Available 2-4 days per week for a 2-6 hours shift (additional hours available for qualified candidate)
-Able to pass a background check
-Reliable transportation
-Teaching license a plus
-Comfortable teaching through calculus.
