RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Plan and deliver rigorous, engaging mathematics instruction aligned to Virginia SOL standards for grades 6-8
  • Teach courses which may include Pre-Algebra, Algebra I, and/or Math 6, 7, or 8 depending on assignment
  • Use data from assessments and SOL results to differentiate instruction and support all learners
  • Create a structured, positive classroom environment that promotes mathematical thinking and problem-solving
  • Communicate proactively with parents, guardians, and support staff regarding student progress
  • Collaborate with grade-level teams and participate in Professional Learning Community (PLC) meetings
  • Provide tutoring, intervention support, or enrichment as needed
  • Maintain accurate and timely records of student grades, attendance, and progress
  • Perform other duties as assigned by school administration

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, or a related field
  • Valid Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in Mathematics (Middle School or Secondary), or eligibility to obtain licensure
  • Knowledge of Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) for middle school mathematics
  • Ability to effectively teach and differentiate instruction for diverse learners
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Experience with data-driven instruction and formative assessment practices preferred
  • Commitment to student growth, equity, and a positive school culture
