Advertising Summary: The Department of Mathematical Sciences at New Mexico State University invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty appointment to be filled at the Assistant Professor level beginning Fall, 2027. The position will support research and teaching needs in the department, with research focus in Statistics. Standard Work Schedule: Standard (M-F, 8-5)

If Not a Standard Work Schedule: 

Job Duties and Responsibilities: Duties include teaching and coordinating undergraduate and graduate classes, as well as advising students in both undergraduate and graduate studies. Conducting scholarly research. Service to the Department of Mathematical Sciences and NMSU.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related area prior to August 2027.

Equivalent Qualifications: 

Preferred Qualifications: 
Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics, Statistics, or a closely related area prior to August 2027 and are expected to demonstrate outstanding research potential, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to excellence in teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Ability to collaborate with existing faculty in the department is an asset. Expected duties include graduate and undergraduate teaching, sustained research, including supervision of graduate students and submission of competitive external funding proposals, and some university service.
