Job Description:
The elementary music educator is responsible for planning and delivering engaging music lessons; teaching fundamental musical concepts; and fostering a love for music in elementary students through various activities like singing, playing instruments, and listening.

Responsibilities:


Lesson Planning and Delivery:

  • Develop and implement age-appropriate music lesson plans that align with curriculum standards.
  • Create engaging and interactive learning experiences that cater to different learning styles.
  • Introduce fundamental music concepts like rhythm, melody, harmony, and pitch.
  • Teach basic music theory, vocal techniques, and instrument skills.

Instruction and Performance:

  • Lead singing, movement, and instrumental activities.
  • Conduct rehearsals for school performances and concerts.
  • Organize and manage musical events and activities.

Student Assessment and Feedback:

  • Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain a student gradebook
  • Identify students' strengths and areas for improvement.
  • Communicate with parents and administrators about student progress.

Other Duties:

  • Maintain a positive and supportive learning environment.  
  • Stay current with best practices in music education.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff members.
  • Direct instructional assistants and volunteers.
  • Ensure up-to-date knowledge and awareness of examination requirements.
     

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong musical background and proficiency in various instruments.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, creativity, and enthusiasm for teaching music.
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students.
  • Knowledge of music theory, pedagogy, and curriculum development.
