To thrive as an Online Human Services Instructor, you need expertise in human services theory and practice, a relevant advanced degree (such as a master's in human services, counseling, or social work), and prior teaching or field experience. Familiarity with online learning management systems (LMS) like Canvas or Blackboard, and experience with virtual communication tools, are typically required. Their role is crucial in preparing students for real-world human services professions while offering the flexibility of remote learning.

What Does an Online Human Services Instructor Do?

As an online human services instructor, your job is to teach a virtual class of students about the various aspects of human services work. In this role, you may select information to include in lessons, ensure each class thoroughly covers the intended subject, and encourage remote students to ensure they complete all of their work on time. Most online human services instructors focus on introductory content in various fields that students should know before they specialize in one area, so instructors in this role often handle larger classes than some other teachers. You can perform this job from home, but most online human services instructors work from a college or university. The online aspect of this job refers to the location of students, not the ability to work from home.
