Job description

Teach English in China — Tier 1 Cities (Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen)

Are you looking for an exciting adventure abroad while making a real difference in students' lives? We're hiring English teachers from the United States to teach English as a Second Language (ESL) to Chinese students in China's top cities. No teaching experience? No problem — we'll support you every step of the way.

What You'll Be Doing

You'll teach English to Chinese students, helping them build real-world speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills. Classes are fun, interactive, and designed to help students feel confident using English in everyday life.

Salary

You'll earn 20,000–30,000 RMB per month, which is approximately $2,975–$4,460 USD per month (based on current exchange rates). This goes a long way in China, especially since many of your biggest expenses — housing, insurance — are already covered by us (see below).

What We Provide
  • Free luxury accommodation — a fully furnished, comfortable place to live, so you don't have to worry about rent or setting up a new apartment
  • Free medical insurance — so you're covered for check-ups and emergencies
  • Social insurance — similar to Social Security in the U.S., this helps protect your income and wellbeing while you work here
  • Visa and paperwork support — our team will guide you through every step of the work visa and document process. This is one of the most confusing parts of moving abroad, and we make sure you're never doing it alone
  • A standard 40-hour work week — a healthy, predictable schedule so you have time to explore, relax, and enjoy life in China
Why Teach in China?

Beyond the salary and benefits, living in a Tier 1 Chinese city comes with some amazing perks:

  • Ultra-modern cities — high-speed trains, cutting-edge technology, and some of the most walkable, convenient cities in the world
  • Low cost of living for everyday expenses like food, transportation, and entertainment
  • Incredible food scene — from street food to fine dining, there's something for every taste
  • Rich culture and history — explore centuries-old temples alongside futuristic skylines
  • Safety — Tier 1 Chinese cities are known for being very safe, even late at night
  • Easy travel — China's high-speed rail and flight network make weekend trips around Asia simple and affordable
  • A built-in international community — you'll meet other expats and teachers from all over the world
What We're Looking For
  • A bachelor's degree (in any field — you don't need an education degree)
  • A native or fluent English speaker
  • Someone who's friendly, patient, and excited to work with students
  • Willingness to relocate to China (we'll help you with the entire visa process, so this is easier than it sounds!)
How to Apply

If this sounds like the adventure you've been waiting for, reach out to us on WeChat — it's the easiest way to chat with our team and get started:

  1. Download the WeChat app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android) — it's free
  2. Open the app and create an account with your phone number or email
  3. Tap Contacts, then the + icon, and select Add Contacts
  4. Search for our username: vipchinateacher
  5. Send us a request and a quick message saying you're interested in the ESL teaching position

Our team will respond and walk you through everything from there, including your visa application and next steps.
