Spring semester-Starts Monday, January 25, 2027
$50.08/hr.
Qualifications
The qualified teacher will demonstrate proficiency in the skills of reading, writing, and mathematics and be able to instruct Science according to the Common Core State Standards (CCSS). The teacher will demonstrate proficient computer skills. The teacher shall obtain and maintain the certification requirement(s) established by Connecticut State Statutes. The teacher shall meet the requirements of the Windsor Board of Education for this position.
  1. Windsor Adult Education teachers will maintain current their Adult Education Endorsements and provide a copy to the program facilitator (endorsement 107).
  2. Windsor Adult Education staff and employees will adhere and comply with all mandates set forth by the Connecticut State Department of Education.

Basic Functions
Provide numeracy instruction for high school equivalency, and work readiness to our students.
Duties and Responsibilities Instruction
  1. Demonstrates knowledge of the subject(s) to be taught.
  2. Demonstrates knowledge of the Common Core State Standards (CCSS)
  3. Demonstrates knowledge of the Connecticut Competency System (CCS), including the Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment (CASAS) Competencies.
  4. Uses results from CASAS Pre/Post Assessment to plan and differentiate instruction based on learner's abilities and goals.
  5. Effectively communicates with students.
  6. Provides opportunity for students to receive out-of-class instruction and or assistance.
  7. Works with Program Facilitator in the implementation of the Connecticut Competency System (CCS).
  8. Teachers will use the Blended Learning Environment Model for their students.

Pupil and Classroom Management
  1. Must be on time for all of their scheduled classes
  2. Must supervise assigned class and not leave students unsupervised at any time.
  3. Will effectively organize time, space, materials, and equipment for instruction.
  4. Will establish a positive learning environment, enforcing student behavior contracts as outlined in the student handbook.
  5. Will follow up with students who have poor attendance.
  6. Will enter timely and accurate student attendance in the LACES reporting system.

Assessment
  1. Effectively assesses student needs and progress using the CASAS Assessment System with guidance from the Program Facilitators.

  2. Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development as it relates to the teaching-learning process.
  3. Helps students develop positive self-concepts.
