POSITION TITLE: Science Teacher
DEPARTMENT: Middle School
REPORTS TO: Building Principal
PAY SCHEDULE: As per REA Collective Bargaining Agreement and experience
EFFECTIVE: 2026/2027 School Year
Qualifications:
  • Valid Michigan Teaching with a secondary endorsement in Science 6-8 or 6-12 (DX or DI)
  • Must meet the Elementary and Secondary Education/ Every Student Succeeds Act.
  • Awareness of the physical, social, emotional and mental development of the learner
  • Proficient and knowledgeable in the subject area
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with students, parents and staff
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Knowledge of data and how it is used to inform instruction
  • Proficient with technology as an instructional tool.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan, prepare and implement instruction and assessments.
  • Honor and carry out district initiatives.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and demonstrates a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Contributing member to a professional learning community.
  • Communicate student progress and development with parents and staff.
  • Provide a flexible, stable and pleasant learning environment that is child-centered while maintaining appropriate classroom management.
  • Demonstrate creative and innovative lesson plans that contribute to a highly engaged learning community.
  • Ability to demonstrate judgment, decision-making, conflict management and resolution.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
