Position Summary
The Director of IT is responsible for assisting in the design, installation, maintenance, and support of the college network. This position assists in managing the college network, design and support of server systems, evaluation of changes to current and future network equipment, and maintenance of administrative software.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate the training of all personnel in the efficient usage of procedural and operational processes.
  2. Maintain and update the computer replacement plan for the College.
  3. Maintain records to ensure compliance with licensing policies for computer software.
  4. Assist in developing and implementing a college-wide strategic plan for integrating instructional technology, including coordinating and monitoring the strategic planning goals and objectives for instructional technology.
  5. Administer, maintain, and set up as needed the College-wide telecommunications system.
  6. Assign priorities to all issues processed for technical assistance through ticketing software. Provide a monthly report to the President on ticketing outcomes.
  7. Assist in configuring, installing, repairing, and maintaining the campus networking infrastructure (Routers, Switches, Hubs, Patch Panels, Fiber, and Cat5).
  8. Ensure that the system and the network are secure and that valuable or sensitive data is protected from undesired access.
  9. Maintain Internet connectivity and Internet activity.
  10. Supervise the support and maintenance of all college servers (DHCP, DNS, WEB, EMAIL, etc.)
  11. Assist in providing relevant data from Banner and all other Databases utilized by the College.
  12. Assist as needed in the DAX Reporting System.
  13. Assist as needed in Online Course Content for Students.
  14. Maintain and update all wireless access points.
  15. Install and maintain existing and/or new hardware, software, and peripherals in all areas of the College as needed or required.
  16. Develop departmental budget and assist in the development of bid specifications for the College Network, Midrange Computer, Telecommunications, and related equipment.
  17. Lead and supervise all personnel who have job responsibilities in operating or maintaining instructional and administrative computer hardware and systems.
  18. Responsible for the management and training of the emergency notification system (ALERTUS).
  19. Serve as Chair of the Technology Advancement Committee and on other committees as assigned.
  20. Ability to work non-standard hours.

Qualifications
Bachelor of Science from a regionally accredited institution. Must have a working knowledge of the installation and maintenance of wired/wireless networking infrastructure, including cabling systems, network hardware such as network cards, hubs, and switches, and installation. Must have a working knowledge of the setup of Windows network operating systems software.

Salary Calculation: For all salary positions, the salary amount for the selected applicant is determined by step placement on the applicable salary schedule. Step placement is dependent upon the following: (a) all work experience in public education in Alabama and (b) all other work experience outside of public education in Alabama that, in the sole judgment of the College, directly relates to the requirements of the position. The applicant selected for the position must provide written verification(s) of this work experience within the time provided if such experience is to be considered in determining their initial step placement on the Salary Schedule.
Format for Work Experience Verifications: Work experience verifications should be in the form of verification letters from employers and must include complete employment dates, job title(s), job duties, and an indication whether such employment was full-time or part-time, and if part-time, the total number of hours worked each week. Retirement
The TRS was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions.
