Position Highlights
The Department of Systems & Industrial Engineering is seeking an instructor for its Embedded Computer Systems course. SIE 370 covers Boolean algebra, combinational and sequential logic circuits, finite state machines, simple computer architecture, assembly and C/C++ language programming, and real-time computer control. This 4-unit course is offered every Fall and Spring semesters and is taken by industrial engineering, systems engineering, and engineering management students as well as other students in the college of engineering who wish to take it as a technical elective. The course includes a hands-on laboratory session. The instructor will prepare lecture materials, student assessments (quizzes, homework assignments, exams, projects, etc.), deliver lectures at the University of Arizona Main Campus, and provide flexible learning options for online students or students who wish to participate in the class remotely. The ideal candidate will have academic and/or industry experience in embedded computer systems and hands-on applications.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Teach one section of SIE 370 Embedded Computer Systems
  • Prepare and deliver instructional materials and guide/lead class activities three times per week, plus a lab session once per week, every Fall and Spring semester at the University of Arizona Main Campus in Tucson, AZ
  • Ensure successful delivery of the course's learning objectives through the creation and dissemination of students assessments (e.g., quizzes, homework, exams, projects, etc.)
  • Establish and adhere to grading rubrics to ensure students understand grading expectations
  • Provide timely feedback to students on their submitted assignments
  • Maintain course materials in the University's chosen Learning Management System that is optimized for on-campus and remote students
  • Work with instructional designer to optimize course materials using Quality Matters standards for online learning
  • Support student learning in multiple modalities including in person, remote synchronous, and remote asynchronous
  • Gather and report ABET learning outcomes to department advisor
  • Assist in the professional development of students as they transition from academia into careers or graduate school

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in anengineering or closely related discipline and 5 years of experience as anengineering professional in one or more industrial organizations;

OR
  • Master'sdegree in an engineering or closely related discipline.
