Job description

Position Overview
Role: Air Force JROTC Aerospace Science Instructor (ASI) Enlisted
Department: AFJROTC Unit
Reports to: Senior Aerospace Science Instructor (SASI) and High School Principal


Key Responsibilities

  • Instruction: Deliver approved Aerospace Science and Leadership Education curricula, as well as military drill, in accordance with U.S. Air Force and school district guidelines.
  • Mentorship: Counsel cadets on their performance, academic progress, and personal development.
  • Extracurriculars: Supervise, organize, and participate in after-school Leadership Development Requirements (LDRs), including drill teams, honor guards, color guard ceremonies, and field trips.
  • Program Administration: Maintain accurate student records, manage government-furnished equipment, and prepare required program reports.
  • Community Outreach: Foster relationships with civic organizations, feeder schools, and the local community.

Minimum Qualifications
Candidates must meet all mandatory Air Force JROTC Enlisted Instructor Criteria:

  • Military Status: Retired or approved separated/actively serving Noncommissioned Officer (NCO) or Senior Noncommissioned Officer (SNCO) of the U.S. Air Force or Space Force.
  • Rank: Retired or former enlisted member, grades E-6 to E-9.
  • Education: Minimum of an Associate Degree.
  • Certification: Must possess a current, approved AFJROTC Instructor Certification on file with Headquarters AFJROTC prior to hiring.
  • Appearance: Ability to maintain traditional military standards of personal appearance and wear the prescribed uniform daily.
  • Background Check: Must successfully pass the comprehensive AFJROTC Childcare Background Check and maintain compliance with AFJROTC Application Policy.
