Job Description Summary
The Department of Biological Sciences at Oakland University invites applicants for a full-time faculty position in the area of anatomy to be filled by August 15, 2026. The appointment, as a Special Instructor, is a full-time, teaching-track faculty position leading to job security, the equivalent of tenure. Special Instructors are expected to teach three 4-credit classes in both the Fall and Winter semesters and to participate in service and program development activities and course design. Courses offered by the department service multiple majors and programs including, Biology, Health Sciences, Biomedical Science and pre-Nursing majors. The position offers a competitive salary package and outstanding retirement and health care benefits. Additional compensation may be available for summer instruction May through August.
Minimum Qualifications
The successful candidate is expected to teach graduate, and upper- and lower-level undergraduate courses and laboratory courses in anatomy as part of a team of faculty and instructors within the department. The candidate must have a Ph.D. in anatomy or a related field, and teaching experience in both lecture and laboratory instruction. Candidates must have 18 graduate credit hours in anatomy, or a sub-discipline of anatomy, to meet HLC accreditation hiring criteria. Candidates with demonstrated experience in novel pedological approaches, neuroanatomy, embryology (developmental anatomy), and histology will be considered favorably.
