Job SummaryThe School of Social Science and Global Studies at the University of Southern Mississippi is seeking an adjunct instructor to teach lower-level anthropology courses either online or face-to-face. The primary responsibility of this position will be teaching a one-semester survey course, "The Human Experience: A Global Perspective on Human Diversity".
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Teach Anthropology classes as needed.
  2. Attend program meetings as determined by the program coordinator.
  3. Follow all university, college, and school policies regarding teaching practices and job performance.
  4. Be responsive to communication from students, staff, and administration.
  5. Hold regular office hours.
  6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications18 graduate hours of Anthropology. Graduate degree in related field.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSA)
  • Knowledge of the teaching field; skill in delivering required knowledge and ability to engender learning in students.
  • Use of Canvas and ability to teach online both synchronous and asynchronous.
  • Professionalism in all activities, participating in a collegial, ethical and responsible manner.
  • Ability to respond to inquiries from students, staff and administration in a timely manner as stipulated.

Preferred QualificationsGraduate degree in Anthropology and experience with online teaching. Experience with Canvas.
