Job Description
The Department of Mathematics at Virginia Tech invites applications for a pool of qualified adjunct instructors to teach undergraduate mathematics courses on a part-time, semester-by-semester basis. Appointments are made as departmental instructional needs arise and are contingent upon enrollment, funding, and curriculum requirements. Teaching will be conducted in person on the Blacksburg campus.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate will have:
- A master's degree in mathematics or a related discipline by date of hire, with a minimum of 18 semester hours of graduate courses in mathematics.
- Experience teaching college-level mathematics courses.
- Effective communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching college-level courses as the primary instructor.
- Documented outstanding effectiveness teaching in a curriculum, like that offered by Virginia Tech Mathematics Department, designed to serve a large, diverse group of university students in engineering and the sciences.
-Willingness and ability to teach calculus, multivariable calculus, linear algebra, or differential equations.
