Job description

$5000 Sign On Bonus

Overall Responsibility:

Responsible for organizing the inpatient procedures to assure proper patient admission, correct paperwork to complete clinical admission to the Hospital, along with the achievement of patient outcomes through implementation of a nursing care plan and in accordance with the mission of OneCore Health.

Key tasks and responsibilities (essential functions):

  • Prepares for patient admission, care during and patient discharge according to OneCore Health policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of drug usage, their actions and side effects, interaction with anesthesia agents and expected patient outcomes.
  • Recognizes emergency situation, responds quickly and efficiently following policy and procedure, ACLS, physician orders or emergency plan to prevent adverse patient outcomes.
  • Maintains knowledge and adheres to policies/procedure, care standards for pre-operative care.
  • Ensures patient meets admit requirements before patient goes for surgery. Provides verbal instructions to family or responsible party during pre-operative period about the whole surgical experience.
  • Documents that assessments, interventions and patient outcomes are performed according to policy and procedure and OneCore Health standards.
  • Restocks supplies/equipment in area to maintain adequate levels for patient care. Medications are checked for expiration date. Supplies/medications are rotated so that outdates are at a minimum.
  • Demonstrates continued competence in assessing, treating, and caring for individuals based upon age-specific needs utilizing a developmental perspective.
  • Demonstrates appropriate knowledge and competence of designated skills identified for position.
  • Performs appropriate nursing duties during procedures that pertain to pain management using current nursing standards as well as OneCore Health standards.
  • Completes all documentation to ensure the availability of accurate and up to date information in accordance with established standards.
  • Adheres to established OneCore Health safety requirements and procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Demonstrates the importance of continuing education to the performance of OneCore Health responsibilities and growth in profession.

Licensure and Certification: Current Registered Nurse Licensure with the State of Oklahoma. BLS and ACLS required, if not currently ACLS certified, certification must be obtained within 6 months.

Experience/Education: Graduate of an accredited Registered Nurse program. Minimum of one-year experience in PACU, Emergency or ICU preferred. One-year pre-operative experience in Surgery Hospital or Hospital setting preferred.

Environmental and physical requirements - Requires physical ability for long term standing, occasional sitting, crouching, kneeling, frequent walking, reaching with reaching above head and below waist. The employee must be able to read, write and speak English fluently, have cognitive skills for math, reading, filing and sterile technique skills. Requires communication skills to deal well with employees, patients, families and physicians. Vision for near, mid-range, far and accommodation. Hearing for low, medium, and high pitch. Job risk include exposure to blood and body fluids (high), contact with laser and chemicals, lifting of 30 - 75 pounds, and exposure to infectious disease.
