LOCATION OF (1) POSITION(S) TO BE FILLED: DEPARTMENT OF TOURIST DEVELOPMENT, DYER COUNTY
Salary based on experience.
This is an on-site position at the Dyersburg Welcome Center.
Qualifications
Education and Experience: Education equivalent to graduation from a standard high school and experience equivalent to three years of full-time public contact work including, at least, two years of supervisory or welcome center experience; qualifying full-time experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis.
Necessary Special Qualifications: A valid motor vehicle operator license may be required
Overview
Under general supervision of a Regional Manager, a Welcome Center Manager leads the operational and performance excellence of the assigned welcome center within one of our four regions, (Northeast, Southeast, Middle and West). This person must be team-oriented, resourceful, value great customer service and possess excellent problem solving, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. He or she is responsible for the day-to-day management of the assigned welcome center, supervising welcome center assistants and building maintenance workers 1 & 2, through regular inspections, shift scheduling, records management, active personnel engagement and development of staff. Maintaining overall operational and safety standards in and around the center including reaction measures to inclement weather and disaster response as needed locally.
Responsibilities
1. Responsible for daily operation of a Welcome Center by ensuring the cleanliness of the buildings, grounds and parking areas in a manner to assure sanitary, aesthetically pleasing and safe facilities for use by the traveling public.
2. Supervise Welcome Center Assistants and Building Maintenance staff by assigning work schedules, training new employees, maintaining time records and conducting performance evaluations. Work any shift (Building Maintenance Worker or Welcome Center Assistant) as needed.
3. Perform related work services as required including maintaining cleanliness and sanitation by checking the custodial and maintenance work and authorizing repairs. Test water for purity. Routinely check to see if there are any potentially hazardous conditions including, but not limited to, sidewalk cracks, holes, slippery floors, water leaks and other situations which could result in injury to employees and/or guest(s) at the Welcome Center.
4. Manage the operation of the Welcome Center by maintaining and inventorying equipment and supplies, ordering and purchasing supplies, and performing other related duties.
5. Prepare a variety of standard records and reports such as time sheets, monthly and quarterly reports.
6. Properly implement and follow all safety and security procedures, reporting any unsafe working conditions to his/her supervisor or safety coordinator. Includes incident reports.
7. Attend, work and/or coordinate training seminars, travel shows and special events as needed by the Agency or Division.
8. Cover Rest Area brochure stocking responsibility for Regional Manager on a temporary basis as needed.

TN Driver Standards
