  • Deliver "whisper translation" (chuchotage) services to individual participants or small groups without disrupting proceedings.
  • Accurately convey meaning, intent, tone, and context between speakers while maintaining neutrality.
  • Interpret technical, administrative, operational, and general business terminology as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information discussed during interpreted sessions.
  • Arrive prepared and review provided materials, agendas, and terminology prior to interpretation assignments.
  • Clarify terminology when necessary to ensure accurate communication.
  • Maintain professional conduct and appearance while working in a military environment.
  • Coordinate with government representatives and project personnel regarding interpretation schedules and requirements.
  • Adhere to all installation access, security, and safety procedures.

What qualifications do you look for?

  • Ability to perform whisper translation accurately and effectively in real-time.
  • Excellent verbal communication and active listening skills.
  • Strong understanding of cultural nuances and language variations.
  • Ability to maintain impartiality and professional discretion.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills.

We are extra impressed by folks with:

  • Professional interpreter certification from a recognized organization.
  • Previous experience supporting U.S. Government, military, or federal agency clients.
  • Experience interpreting during training events, conferences, briefings, or operational meetings.
  • Familiarity with military, maritime, logistics, or technical terminology.
  • Experience providing interpretation in professional or high-profile environments.
  • Ability to remain seated or standing for extended periods.
  • Ability to speak clearly and continuously during interpretation sessions lasting up to one hour.
  • Ability to work on-site for up to 9 hours per day during the assignment period.
