Altom Transport, a family-owned leader in bulk liquid transportation, is seeking dedicated and professional Local CDL A Tanker Drivers.
Job Description:
Altom Transport is seeking dedicated and professional Over-the-Road (OTR) CDL A Tanker Drivers to safely transport liquid bulk materials across the country. This role requires extended time on the road, typically 7+ consecutive days, with home time that can be planned based on operational needs and driver preferences. This position offers the flexibility to maximize earnings while ensuring the highest safety and service standards.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Long-haul driving across multiple regions, ensuring timely and safe deliveries of bulk liquid materials.
  • Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections to comply with DOT regulations and company safety policies.
  • Safely load and unload tanker trucks, often requiring hoses, pumps, and adherence to all safety protocols.
  • Maintain accurate records of trips, inspections, and any incidents to ensure compliance.
  • Effectively communicate with dispatch and customers to coordinate deliveries and manage schedules.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations regarding the transportation of hazardous materials.
  • Maintain consistent mileage and workload to support operational efficiency and maximize earnings.

Qualifications:
Altom Transport maintains strict driver qualifications and a safety-first culture to ensure professional, compliant, and well-supported operations. Requirements and safety standards include:
  • Valid CDL Class A License
  • Tanker Endorsement (N) - Required
  • Hazmat Endorsement (H) - Preferred (must obtain within 90 days of hire; assistance available)
  • TWIC Card - Preferred (or must obtain after hire)
  • Minimum 1 year of verifiable tanker driving experience
  • At least 23 years of age
  • Clean MVR and strong safety record
  • Able to pass DOT physical, drug screening, and background check
  • Dependable, safety-minded, and capable of working independently
  • Willing to work flexible schedules, including 24/7 operations if needed
  • Rigorous onboarding and new hire safety training through the Safety Department
  • Mandatory quarterly safety meetings throughout the fleet

Strict Driver Vetting & Qualification Process Includes:
  • Minimum of 2 years of verifiable tanker experience within the last 5 years
  • No DUI/OWI on record within the last 5 years
  • Cannot be prohibited in the FMCSA Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse
  • No at-fault/preventable fatal or rollover accidents in the last 5 years
  • No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years
  • No more than 2 CSA moving violations in the last 18 months
  • No falsification on the driver application
  • Must hold a current X endorsement
  • Minimum 1-week in-person new hire training
  • Quarterly mandatory safety meetings with employees
  • HM 232 Compliance & Emergency Response Plan provided
  • General Awareness testing in accordance with 49 CFR 172-part H
  • Drug & Alcohol Policy and DOT Compliance program
  • Forward-facing cameras on all Altom and contractor equipment
  • Governed company equipment
  • Incident & Accident Investigation Program (driver reporting + injury investigations)
  • RCMS Certified / HSE policy
  • PPE provided, including replacement policy guidelines
