Job description

DPI Staffing has a Current Opening for Fire Watch at our client The United States Coast Guard in the Curtis Bay Area. This position supports welders as they weld to ensure the safety of workers by watching for fires at the Shipyard.

Shift - Day Shifts and Swing Shifts 
Pay- 18.24 an hour plus H&W 5.09 up to 40 hours a week. 
 
Job Duties include but not limited to:
 
  • Performing a visual inspection of the work area to identify actual and potential fire hazards prior to the commencement of industrial work.
  • Clear or instigate the clearing of identified fire hazards in the work area.
  • Prevent and extinguish incipient stage fires with a portable fire extinguisher when they occur.
  • Properly alert authorities and summon emergency fire-fighting help in the event attempts to extinguish an incipient stage fire fails.
  • Other Firewatch duties as needed.
 
Requirements:
 
  • Must be able to pass RAPID Gate Security Clearance Background.
  • Must always be punctual to support the welders. 
  • Attention to details and flexibility to work in different areas are a plus!
  • Must be qualified to work in confined and enclosed spaces on ships.
  • Must be able to stand for periods of time.
  • Must weigh and record the fire extinguisher bottle(s) before and after fire watch duty.
