The Cloud & Platform Analyst is responsible for supporting and operating enterprise compute platforms across a hybrid environment including on-prem data centers and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This role focuses on day-to-day operations, support, and execution across Google Compute Engine (GCE), VMware environments, and Linux-based systems. The ideal candidate is a hands-on operator with foundational technical skills who can follow established architectural standards, assist with cloud and infrastructure initiatives, and contribute to maintaining stable, secure, and scalable hybrid environments.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support day-to-day operations of computer platforms across on-prem and cloud environments (GCP).
  • Assist in provisioning, configuration, and maintenance of virtual machines in GCE and VMware environments.
  • Support hybrid infrastructure operations, ensuring availability, performance, and stability of systems.
  • Participate in execution of infrastructure and migration activities (on-prem to cloud, cloud-to-cloud) under guidance of senior engineers.
  • Assist with IBM Power Systems (Power Series) environments, including AIX-based workloads where applicable.
  • Perform routine system administration tasks including patching, updates, monitoring, and troubleshooting.
  • Support Linux environments across multiple distributions (RHEL, Ubuntu, SUSE); exposure to AIX is a plus.
  • Execute Infrastructure as Code (IaC) deployments and automation tasks using pre-defined templates and standards.
  • Follow established runbooks for provisioning, incident response, and operational activities.
  • Work closely with middleware, application, and DevOps teams to support platform requirements.
  • Assist in troubleshooting incidents and performing root cause analysis with guidance from senior engineers.
  • Maintain system documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures.
  • Ensure adherence to security policies, compliance requirements, and configuration standards.
  • Participate in on-call rotation, providing after-hours support for production systems and incident response.

Skills and Competencies:
  • Foundational knowledge of Google Cloud Platform (GCP), particularly Compute Engine (GCE).
  • Basic understanding of cloud and on-prem infrastructure concepts, including virtualization and networking.
  • Familiarity with VMware environments (vSphere/vCenter) and virtual machine lifecycle management.
  • Exposure to IBM Power Systems (Power Series) and AIX environments is a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Linux operating systems (RHEL, Ubuntu, SUSE).
  • Basic understanding of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform or similar) and automation concepts.
  • Ability to follow operational procedures and implement predefined technical solutions.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in a production support environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (applications, middleware, networking).
  • Strong attention to detail and ownership in executing assigned tasks.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and grow technical skillsets across cloud and infrastructure domains.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-5+ years of experience in IT operations, infrastructure support, or cloud support roles.
  • Exposure to cloud platforms (GCP/AWS/Azure) or virtualization technologies.
  • Experience supporting Linux-based environments.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Exposure to VMware environments and enterprise infrastructure operations.
  • Exposure to IBM Power Systems and AIX environments.
  • Basic experience with automation or scripting (Terraform, Ansible, Bash).
  • Experience supporting hybrid (cloud + on-prem) environments.
  • Familiarity with ITIL practices and incident management.
