POSITION SUMMARY:

This is a FT position working Monday-Friday 6am-2pm

Provides a stable environment for children. Work involves responsibility for assisting in the planning and implementing activities to meet the children's physical, mental, and psychosocial needs. Responsible for performing duties in accordance with policies and procedures. Works under direct supervision of the Teacher and Assistant Teacher. Must be pleasant, respectful, and courteous to all residents, children, families, visitors and fellow employees at all times.

MAJOR JOB FUNCTIONS:

Assists with providing activities of daily living for children.

  • Washes children's hands when they enter the day care, before and after meals/snacks and after diapering/toileting.

  • Serves meals and assists in feedings.

  • Changes diapers and assists with toilet training.

  • Assists in the dressing and grooming of the children.

  • Uses positive verbal and non-verbal communication.

  • Cleans toys and equipment following cleaning schedule.

Assists the teacher with conducting activities.

  • Greets the children and parents upon arrival at day care.

  • Assists in the set-up of activities.

  • Assists in the clean-up of activities.

  • Follows the policies and procedures of the day care.

Reports and records child and parent information.

  • Charts daily activities of the children.

  • Consults with the teacher regarding concerns of the children.

  • Consults with the teacher on health concerns of the children.

Attends Child Day Care meetings.

  • Attends monthly in-service and planning meetings.

  • Acquires in-service hours as specified by the Department of Human Services.

Performs miscellaneous duties.

  • Responsible for the safety of the children.

  • Practices good safety habits.

  • Follows and upholds facility policies and procedures.

  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

JOB SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:

  • Prefer high school graduate or equivalent.

  • Enjoys working with children.

  • Must be comfortable communicating with parents and staff.

  • Must be available to work varied hours and on an on-call basis.

  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.

  • Must be able to perform physical job demands of position.

  • Exercises confidentiality to ensure compliance with all HIPAA regulations.
