Position Summary
Under general direction, this position is responsible participates in the planning, coordination, and solution development and implementation activities related to the integration of applications and technologies within the college system environment. This includes researching, designing, documenting, and modifying software specifications throughout the production lifecycle. Proven communication skills, problem solving skills, proficiency in programming languages and data structures, and knowledge of integration best practices are critical.
Primary Duties Performed
  • Perform application lifecycle activities, including: Code, monitor, maintain, test, and debug software applications; follow established change management processes and guidelines for programming and documentation; participate in code reviews and enforce code standards; develop and execute test plan development; research and evaluate new technology, products, specialized hardware, and tools to optimize development and functionality of applications; make recommendations to management and customers.
  • Prepare detailed technical specifications for electronic interfaces and data exchanges with internal and external applications and systems and maintains accurate, translate functional specifications into technical designs, and complete and current documentation of these solutions, and convert data integration models and other design specifications to source codes.
  • Design data integration architectures, data modeling, and system transition plans to align business, applications, and data integration between systems using middleware solutions across the enterprise technology portfolio.
  • Participate in the development of integrations or changes from above design; support the development and the solution throughout the life cycle, including testing, deployment, and maintenance; develop or modify data integration solutions to meet the functional and non-functional requirements of the business and provide optimal performance under increasing data volumes.
  • Develop processes and logic to optimize data integration platform to provide optimal performance under increasing data volumes according to the organization's information services policies as well as best practices; and conduct review of other integration developers' development efforts to ensure consistent methodologies are followed and to make recommendations where necessary.
  • Maintain regular communication and works collaboratively with college leads and proactively (troubleshooting) identification of areas for improvement/ enhancement, assessment of the status of current projects, and monitoring the effectiveness of changes implemented; troubleshoots, analyzes, detects, identifies, and corrects technical problems and deficiencies.
  • Provide support to complex operational activities and recoveries; coordinate with software vendors and external service providers; troubleshoot escalated software bugs and provide fixes.
  • Contribute to project documentation, including internal documentation related to development/support, is maintained in a standard format that is easily accessible; provide support for application integrations across all lines of business, including external customer and employee facing applications.
  • Stay up to date on emerging technology solutions in the data integration platforms and associated technologies to meet the changing needs of the enterprise portfolio and expectations.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • Five (5) years of direct involvement with the design, development, execution of data integration and solutions in a hybrid cloud and on-premises environment.
  • Experience with Ellucian Banne, SIS, and ERP systems is preferred.
  • Experience in higher education is preferred.

Working Conditions
  • May be on call during non-working hours.
  • Regular travel within the district with occasional travel to outside locations.
