Job description

Business: Boys Town National Research Hospital
Job Summary:
In a career as a Lead Sleep Technologist, you join us in providing life-changing care to patients from across the region. In this role, you're responsible for day-to-day activities of the Sleep Disorders Program.
Schedule: Full-Time; 6:00 PM-6:00 AM
Location: West Hospital
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
  • Responsible for triaging polysomnography orders based on patient age, and cognitive and physical abilities to assure timely completion of orders; assures appropriate staff are assigned by type of study.
  • Responsible for the scheduling of patients in the Sleep Lab, scoring of diagnostic sleep tests, and communication of results of diagnostic tests to referring physicians.
  • Troubleshoots and resolves equipment, software and report generation issues.
  • Assists in assuring compliance with the American Academy of Sleep Medicine Standards of Accreditation, hospital policies and procedures, Joint Commission/CMS standards and applicable federal and state requirements.
  • Assists in developing, implementing and reporting performance improvement activities; works with staff to correct deficiencies and maintain corrections.
  • Responsible for scheduling and day to day work assignments of staff; provides input to the Neurodiagnostic Director regarding staff performance evaluations.
  • Assists with the review, update and development of new departmental policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates departmental orientation and ongoing education, ongoing competency assessment of staff, and completion of education regarding all new equipment and procedures.
  • Maintains and orders supplies for Sleep Lab according to budget; assures charges are entered accurately in a timely manner.
  • Assists in performing clinical and diagnostic procedures and participates in the Sleep Lab on-call rotation, as needed.
  • Assists with providing consultation and education to organizational departments and referring providers as needed.
  • Facilitates resolution of provider, patient, staff and technical issues.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Registered Polysomnographic Technologist with Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) required.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in a sleep lab as a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist or other facility performing sleep disorders diagnostic evaluations required.
  • Knowledge and skill in Polysomnography procedures required.
  • BLS certification required.
