Organization Overview

The American Indian Community Development Corporation (AICDC) is a culturally rooted nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening American Indian communities in the Twin Cities metro area. Founded in 1992, AICDC provides culturally unique initiatives, housing, and entrepreneurial programs that improve the lives and livelihoods of American Indian people. Through decades of service, AICDC has built strong, trusted relationships with Tribal Governments and community partners, working collaboratively to deliver respectful, community-driven services.

Position Summary

The Drop-In Staff support the daily operations of the Drop-In Center by providing a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for clients. This position is responsible for food service, client intake and support, facility upkeep, and basic security monitoring. Drop-In Staff plays a key role in ensuring clients are treated with dignity and respect while accessing services. This role requires frequent interaction with clients, standing and moving throughout the facility, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

This position may be part-time, with employees scheduled for up to 30 hours a week, based on business needs, or on an on-call basis.

Essential Responsibilities

Client Support & Intake

  • Greet and sign clients into the Drop-In Center, collecting required information such as name and date of birth
  • Complete intake for new clients following established procedures
  • Securely store client belongings in designated storage areas
  • Conduct client searches in accordance with program policies to maintain safety
  • Monitor security cameras to help ensure the safety of clients and staff

Food & Beverage Service

  • Prepare sandwiches, start soup warmers, and prepare coffee
  • Serve soup and sandwiches to clients in a respectful and organized manner

Facility & Sanitation Duties

  • Prepare cleaning supplies, including water and cleaning solutions for mopping
  • Wipe down tables, counters, and common surfaces
  • Clean and sanitize showers after each client use
  • Wash sheets and linens as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness and order throughout the Drop-In Center

Administrative & Operational Support

  • Set up computers for client sign-in and shift reporting
  • Complete required shift reports accurately and on time
  • Support overall daily operations to ensure smooth service delivery
Physical Requirements

  • Physical Agility: Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the Drop‑In Center for extended periods during a shift
  • Lifting/Carrying: Ability to lift and carry supplies, food items, linens, and client belongings, typically up to 25–40 pounds
  • Stooping/Kneeling: Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and reach to clean showers, mop floors, wipe surfaces, and access storage areas
  • Pushing/Pulling: Ability to move carts, tables, chairs, trash bins, and cleaning equipment
