Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center his hiring a Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist for a full time, day shift position in Woodbridge, VA!
The schedule is 5 eight-hour days. On Call requirement is a minimum of 8 shifts per month including at least 1 weekend.
Must be within 30 minutes of the facility for on call requirements.
Sign on bonus up to 5,000 available for qualified candidates!
Department Overview:
The Cath Lab at Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center is a 50-person team of monitor techs, cardiovascular invasive techs, registered nurses and patient care staff for additional support. The team sees a mix of inpatient and outpatient and an average of 10 procedures per day. Heart and Vascular has 3 labs for EP, Cardiac and IR at SNVMC.
Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist, often referred to as a Cath Lab Technologist, is a healthcare professional specializing in assisting physicians during diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. This role involves working closely with patients, physicians, and other healthcare team members to provide high-quality care and ensure the safety and accuracy of procedures.
In this role, through the utilization of specialized equipment and under the direction of a qualified physician, assists in the performance of cardiac and vascular procedures. Resulting in an accurate diagnosis and/or optimal treatment of congenital or acquired heart disease while maintaining maximum patient safety and comfort. The Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist performs/reviews a baseline patient assessment, evaluates patient response to diagnostic or interventional maneuvers during cardiac catheterization laboratory procedures. Provides patient care commonly used in the cardiac catheterization laboratory as requested and under the direction of a qualified physician. The Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist acts as a first assistant during diagnostic and therapeutic catheterization. A graduate of a diploma, associates, or bachelor's health sciences program (includes, but is not limited to cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy or nursing) or a licensed/certified EMT or paramedic. ACLS not required for hire but must acquire within 90 days.
ACLS must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Education:
  • High School Graduate or Equivalent required
  • A graduate of a diploma, associates, or bachelor's health sciences program (includes, but is not limited to cardiovascular technology, ultrasound, radiologic technology, respiratory therapy or nursing) or a licensed/certified EMT or paramedic.
  • Trade School graduate preferred

Certifications:
  • American Registry Of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) preferred.
  • BLS required
  • ACLS required within 90 days of hire

Experience:
  • Cardiovascular Invasive Technologist or working in an invasive cardiac environment 1 year preferred
  • Medication administration experience preferred
  • Specialty procedures experience preferred
  • EP and Cardiac Cath Experience preferred
  • Sterile procedure experience preferred
