Location: Oakland, CA - NorCal

ACC Environmental Consultants, an Employee Owned Company, is seeking a Staff Geologist to support our environmental consulting work in California. This is an early-career, full-time opportunity for a motivated professional who is eager to build technical consulting experience through a combination of field work, data evaluation, and report preparation.

This role is ideal for someone with 0–5 years of experience who is detail oriented, dependable, and interested in developing a strong foundation in environmental site investigation, groundwater and soil sampling, remediation support, and regulatory-driven project work. The position includes both field and office responsibilities, with a strong emphasis on field execution, technical documentation, and professional growth.

What You Will Do

  • Support environmental site investigations, groundwater monitoring, soil and groundwater sampling, and remediation-related field activities.
  • Assist with data collection, tabulation, quality review, interpretation, and presentation.
  • Prepare field notes, logs, figures, tables, and technical documentation to support project deliverables.
  • Assist with report preparation, work plans, and other client and regulatory submittals.
  • Support project managers and senior staff with project coordination, scheduling, data management, and follow-up tasks.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams, subcontractors, laboratories, and other project stakeholders.
  • Travel to project sites within California.

What We Are Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Environmental Geology, Engineering Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related discipline.
  • 0–5 years of relevant experience in environmental consulting, geology, hydrogeology, or related field work.
  • Familiarity with environmental site investigations, soil and groundwater sampling, remediation support, and technical data review.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Sound problem-solving ability, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to perform field work and travel as needed.

What Will Make You Stand Out

  • Experience supporting projects involving site assessment, characterization, remediation, or regulatory compliance.
  • Familiarity with California environmental programs and agency interaction.
  • OSHA 40-hour HAZWOPER training.
  • Certification as a Geologist-in-Training (GIT) in California, or interest in pursuing it.
  • Experience with technical figures, data management, or environmental database tools.

Why ACC

  • Opportunity to build your career in a collaborative environmental consulting environment.
  • Meaningful exposure to both field operations and office-based project support.
  • Direct mentorship from experienced project managers and technical staff.
  • Variety of work across site investigation, remediation, and environmental compliance projects.
  • Support for professional development, training, and long-term growth.
