Job description

Overview:

Mountain Energy Home Heat delivers heating fuels to commercial and residential customers. This is a full-time driver position based in Burnsville, NC with delivery service to surrounding areas.

Essential Functions

  • Safely and efficiently load fuel up to 1800 gallons onto the transport vehicle
  • Safely and efficiently transport and deliver fuels to residential and commercial customers
  • Ensure clients receive the correct product and volume
  • Collaborate with dispatch to adjust delivery schedule as needed
  • Perform daily vehicle inspection per Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations
  • Accurately record deliveries and customer service calls; update service reports
  • Provide verbal and written status updates to supervisor as needed
  • Accurately answer client questions and address concerns
  • Comply with all state, federal, and local DOT ordinances
  • Know, understand, and observe all safety procedures
  • Efficiently resolve fuel spills and emergency incidents
  • Accurately account for time worked
  • Perform related duties as assigned, to include bulk plant maintenance

Minimum Qualifications & Skills

  • 21+ years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Class B CDL with Hazmat and Fingerprint endorsements, clean driving record
  • Medical Examiner’s Certificate
  • Thorough knowledge of emergency hazmat procedures
  • Available for rotating on-call assignments during evenings and weekends
  • Must pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen & background check
  • Must pass a FMCSA Clearinghouse CDL violation background check
  • Preferred: Previous experience transporting combustible or hazardous liquids

Physical & Mental Requirements

  • Ability to understand and follow a series of instructions whether verbal, written, or demonstrated
  • Clearly communicate in English; hear, speak, read, & write in execution of essential job functions
  • Friendly, professional customer service skills
  • Proficient time management and organization
  • Ability to sit for extended periods
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, crouch, and kneel frequently
  • Ability to pull and move up to 25 pounds
  • Bilateral and unilateral use of hands to grasp, hold, carry, and maneuver parts and equipment
  • Sufficient visual acuity to accurately identify primary and secondary colors

Work Environment

  • Frequent exposure to fumes
  • Functions are often performed outside; may involve heat, humidity, cold, or inclement weather
  • Requires daily independent driving

Compensation

  • $22-$23 per hour, DOE
  • Overtime potential during peak season
