Cindependent is Cincinnati's nonprofit home for independent film.Through the Cindependent Film Festival, year-round artist development, educational programs, and stewardship of the historic Mariemont Theatre, we connect people through stories that inspire curiosity, empathy, and conversation.

Our purpose is simple: create places where strangers become friends through film.

The Mariemont Theatre is our year-round home - a five-screen nonprofit cinema dedicated to independent film, community programming, education, and cultural experiences.

Position Summary

The Technical amp; Projection Manager ensures every film is presented exactly as filmmakers intended. This position manages all digital cinema operations, projection systems, sound, presentation quality, and technical logistics for both daily screenings and special events.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all digital cinema systems and projection equipment.
  • Build, ingest, and quality check playlists (SPLs).
  • Receive and manage DCPs, KDMs, trailers, and advertisements.
  • Maintain exceptional picture and sound quality across all auditoriums.
  • Coordinate preventative maintenance for projection and audio equipment.
  • Support live events, filmmaker presentations, livestreams, and rentals.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues quickly and professionally.
  • Maintain booth organization and technical documentation.
  • Work closely with distributors and the Director of Programming amp; Curation to ensure timely content delivery. These technical responsibilities align closely with the current operational workflow your team has documented for content management, playlist creation, and booth maintenance.

Qualifications

We're looking for someone who loves technology, enjoys solving problems, and takes pride in presenting films at the highest possible quality.

Required

  • Experience with digital cinema, audiovisual systems, live event technology, or professional projection.
  • Strong troubleshooting and technical problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn new software and hardware quickly.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing digital content and equipment.
  • Comfortable working evenings, weekends, holidays, and on-call when necessary.
  • Ability to safely lift up to 50 pounds.

Preferred

  • Experience with DCI-compliant digital cinema systems (Christie, Barco, NEC, Dolby, GDC, Dolby IMS, Doremi, etc.).
  • Experience building playlists (SPLs), managing KDMs, and ingesting DCPs.
  • Knowledge of audio systems and cinema presentation standards.
  • Experience supporting livestreams or live events.
  • Passion for film presentation and exhibition.
