Financial Reporting Manager – Banking Regulatory Reporting


Position Summary

Our client, a well-established financial institution, is seeking a Financial Reporting Manager to oversee regulatory and SEC financial reporting. This individual will be responsible for preparing and filing bank regulatory reports, managing public company reporting requirements, interpreting accounting guidance, and supporting internal and external audits.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with bank regulatory reporting, SEC reporting, and technical accounting within a financial institution or publicly traded company.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all regulatory reporting requirements for a bank and bank holding company.
  • Prepare and file FFIEC Call Reports, FR Y-9LP, FR Y-9C, Basel III calculations, and other required regulatory filings.
  • Prepare and coordinate SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, Proxy Statements, and other public company reporting requirements.
  • Research, interpret, and implement new accounting standards and regulatory guidance.
  • Prepare technical accounting memorandums and accounting position papers.
  • Work closely with external auditors to support quarterly reviews and annual audits.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and banking regulations.
  • Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • Perform ad hoc financial reporting and analysis for senior leadership.
  • Recommend and implement process improvements to enhance reporting efficiency and strengthen internal controls.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting.
  • Minimum of 8 years of accounting experience within a public accounting firm, financial institution, or publicly traded company.
  • At least 5 years of bank regulatory reporting experience, including:
    • FFIEC Call Reports
    • FR Y-9C
    • FR Y-9LP
    • Basel III calculations
    • Other required banking regulatory filings
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, financial reporting, and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Experience with FedReporter SmartCall, SmartY9, or similar regulatory reporting software.
  • Experience with Workiva or comparable SEC reporting software.
  • Familiarity with XBRL tagging and EDGAR filing processes.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial analysis.
  • Knowledge of SOX compliance and internal control frameworks.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with auditors, regulators, and executive leadership.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting critical reporting deadlines.


Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA designation.
  • Master's degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Previous management or leadership experience.
  • Experience with SEC reporting for publicly traded companies.
  • Banking, financial services, or investment industry experience.
  • Experience with financial modeling and financial analysis.
