Position: EHS Specialist

Pay: Salary - paid semi monthly

Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm

Position Summary:

This position exists to facilitate the establishment and promotion of safe and healthy working environment and to recommend measures to reduce or eliminate industrial accidents and health hazards in compliance with OSHA, NIOSH, and EPA regulations at a plant level. Duties include but are not limited to strategic safety planning for the plant, facility auditing and inspection, standard and regulation interpretation, incident investigation, procuring and revising training materials, and generally ensuring regulatory compliance of the plant.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with location and corporate EH&S Team to develop and implement standardized programs to maintain full compliance with EH&S regulations and standards to meet/exceed metrics.
  • Measure plant performance benchmarking against best in class manufacturing to create and implement plans with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Develop, review, maintain and conduct EH&S program training that are required to enhance EH&S Performance
  • Provides strategic direction to sustain a comprehensive system for hazard prevention and control.
  • Implement/maintain behavior based safety program
  • Risk assessment to involve recommending measures to help protect workers from potentially hazardous work methods, processes, or materials
  • Manage Safety & Health programs within OMS plant to include International Environmental, Health and Safety regulations. Includes developing, and providing guidance to all Plant managers and EHS personnel at all locations.
  • Assure proper recordkeeping of results in all areas and develop effective and efficient reporting mechanisms that meet the regulations and inform the leadership.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Associates or Bachelor of Science in Occupation Safety and/or Environmental or related field preferred
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience in EHS role(s) involving leading and coaching employees
  • Leadership abilities and knowledge of OSHA & EPA requirements
  • Knowledge and experience with Behavior Based Safety techniques
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift 20 lbs. as needed.
  • Ability to bend, stand, climb, twist and stoop for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to perform sedentary work including sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Have good vision of 20/30 with corrective lenses.
  • Ability to maintain coordination of hand and finger movements to grasp and manipulate objects with precision.
  • Travel as needed to accomplish desired results. Overnight travel may be required occasionally.

 Subject to environmental conditions that occur indoors and outdoors which includes but is not limited to

exposure to changing temperatures, loud noises, vibration from use of equipment and the following:

  • Hazards: Variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals.
  • Atmospheric conditions: One or more of the following conditions that affect the respiratory system or the skin – fumes, odors, dust, mist, gases or poor ventilation.
  • Oils: there is air and/or skin exposure to oils and other cutting fluids.
