Job description

Position Overview

Oldcastle BuildingEnvelope, is seeking an experienced and hands-on HR Specialist to support our Indianapolis glass manufacturing facility.

This role is positioned above a traditional HR Specialist and will function as the primary HR partner on site. The individual in this position will work closely with plant leadership and employees to support daily operations, strengthen employee engagement, and ensure a compliant and positive work environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who thrives in a fast-paced, manufacturing environment and is looking to take ownership of HR for a site while partnering with HR Manager.


Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as the primary HR contact supporting approximately 75 employees at the Indianapolis plant
  • Partner with plant leadership to provide guidance on employee relations, performance management, and workforce concerns
  • Manage employee relations matters including investigations, corrective actions, and terminations with discretion and professionalism excalting complex issues to the HR Manager.
  • Support time and attendance processes, including absenteeism tracking and guidance for front-line supervisors
  • Coordinate leave of absence processes and ensure proper documentation and compliance
  • Collect and support payroll-related information and coordinate with centralized payroll teams
  • Maintain an active presence on the production floor to build relationships and support employees and leadership
  • Assist with recruiting, onboarding, and training initiatives for plant positions
  • Drive employee engagement efforts to support retention and a positive workplace culture
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable employment laws
Qualifications
  • 4 to 7 or more years of progressive human resources experience
  • Experience in a manufacturing, warehouse, or industrial environment strongly preferred
  • Strong experience in employee relations and supporting front-line leadership
  • Ability to work independently as the primary HR presence at a location
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, production-driven environment
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build trust at all levels
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting multiple locations
  • Familiarity with HRIS and timekeeping systems
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
  • Professional HR certification such as SHRM-CP or PHR
