Job description

Forklift Service Technician II — LP/Electric Systems Specialist

Picture your day: you roll into a facility, open your toolbox, and get right to work keeping lift trucks humming. You’re the go-to pro for planned maintenance and on-the-spot fixes across LP and electric forklifts. You report to a lead tech or manager and regularly team up to support senior (Level 3) technicians, but you’re self-sufficient on the full range of repairs tied to your specialty—LP or electrical.

What you’ll tackle
  • Own scheduled PMs on LP and electric forklifts
  • Perform complete fluid services: engine oil, transmission fluid, differential gear lube, and hydraulic fluid
  • Swap filters as needed: air, oil, fuel, and ATF
  • Conduct tune-ups: adjust valves, replace spark plugs and wires
  • Adjust brakes and risers for safe, consistent stopping
  • Inspect and repack wheel bearings
  • Routinely inspect and water motive batteries on a set schedule
  • Remove, repair, and install batteries
  • Touch up paint and rotate attachment pads to extend component life
  • Replace parts (horns, lights, tires, and more) as required
  • Triage and correct basic overheating issues
  • Troubleshoot and repair steering systems
  • Hit productivity targets: at least 30 completed PMs per month and sustain 80–90% productivity
What you bring
  • 1–2 years troubleshooting experience on electric or LP equipment
  • Hands-on background in basic repairs for electric or LP forklifts, including attachment work
  • Foundational knowledge of electrical, LP, and hydraulic systems; DVOM use
  • Ability to read wiring diagrams and follow service manuals accurately
  • Strong customer service, clear communication, and solid computer skills (MS Office)
  • Your own hand tools
  • Education beyond high school/technical school is a plus, not a must
Physical and work environment
  • Lift and/or pull 75+ lbs without restriction
  • Work outdoors in inclement weather
  • Operate in high-noise areas and around respiratory hazards without restriction
  • Stand or lie down for extended periods to complete repairs
  • Reach, maneuver, and position yourself to access hard-to-reach components
  • Willingness to travel at various times
Proficiencies
  • Mechanical troubleshooting
  • Hydraulics experience; hydraulic systems and components
  • Electrical troubleshooting
  • Equipment diagnostics and troubleshooting
Equipment you’ll service
  • Material handling systems
  • Sit-down forklifts
  • Reach trucks
  • Other forklifts
