Chemical Shuttle Drivers play a critical role in the continued success of Colonial by safely and efficiently transporting chemical products between company locations and designated terminals through scheduled shuttle runs.
This position is a night shift role operating Monday through Friday with occasional weekend work as needed. Drivers will begin their shift at approximately 4:00 PM and typically work 10-11-hour shifts depending on route and workload. Drivers will complete nightly shuttle runs from Savannah to Charlotte or Atlanta utilizing a dry van trailer in a drop-and-hook operation with no-touch freight.
JOB EXPECTATIONS/DUTIES
  • Complete nightly shuttle runs between Savannah and assigned terminal locations including Charlotte, NC and Atlanta, GA.
  • Perform drop-and-hook trailer exchanges in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Safely transport chemical products between designated company and terminal locations.
  • Operate dry van equipment in accordance with company and DOT safety standards.
  • Perform pre-trip, post-trip, and in-transit inspections.
  • Maintain driver logs in accordance with state and federal guidelines and DOT regulations.
  • Maintain equipment in clean, organized, and safe working condition.
  • Inspect truck equipment and trailers to ensure safe operation.
  • Follow all company safety procedures, DOT regulations, and hazardous material handling requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Valid Class A CDL with Hazmat and Tanker endorsements is required.
  • 2+ years of professional driving experience is required.
  • Previous tanker, chemical, petroleum, or hazardous material transportation experience is preferred.
  • Ability to work night shift schedules and extended hours as business demands require.
  • Basic computer skills inclusive of understanding and utilizing electronic logs, employee time reporting, and utilization of e-mail are required.
