We are family-owned with locations throughout the US and Mexico, but we pride ourselves on maintaining a small-company feel. We are currently recruiting for a Transport Driver I for our Bristol, VA location.
The Transport Driver is responsible for the "on-time" and safe delivery of products for Ergon Associate Asphalt Partners while maintaining a professional appearance and attitude.
Transport Drivers perform a vital function for the service of our customers by transporting products safely and efficiently while complying with all applicable Federal and State transportation safety regulations.
Company Interfaces:
  • Transport Drivers report to the Terminal or Transportation Manager in their assigned location..
  • The position interfaces with our employees within the terminals, company leadership, customers, vendors, and regulatory agency contacts.
Transport Driver I Job Responsibilities:
  • Driver tractor-trailer (tanker) combination, applying knowledge of commercial driving regulations, to transport and deliver asphalt products over short and long distances.
  • Use and/or operate equipment, including but not limited to: ladders, loading arms, control valves, metal hoses, landing gear, air lines, cords, and wheel pins.
  • Maneuver truck onto loading and unloading position, following signals form terminal operators as needed.
  • Drive truck to weigh station before and after product loading and along route to document weight.
  • Drive truck into position to load a filling rack.
  • Read gauges or meters ad records quantity loaded.
  • Record amount delivered and issues ticket to customer
  • Confirm to Federal and State driving regulations, including driver logs.
  • Inspect truck before and after trips. Submits reports indicating truck conditions.
  • Read "Bill of Lading" to determine assignment.
  • Responsible for re-fueling truck, checking oil and fluids.
  • Maintains truck interior.
  • Able to stand and/or walk for long periods of time in a variety of weather conditions.
  • Manual dexterity; ability to reach; able to bend and move with agility.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 50-70 lbs.
  • Able to climb up and down tank ladder as needed.
  • Able to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Well-groomed professional appearnace.
Transport Job I Job Qualifications:
  • Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License with Tank Endorsement.
  • 2-3 years of a Class CDL driving experience.
  • Solid work history.
  • Excellent driving record.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Customer-service focused.
  • Able to understand weight scales and basic measurements.
  • High school diploma/GED preferred but not required.
