Overview
This post is to build a talent pool for upcoming projects this fall/winter.
JOB SUMMARY
The Driller operates drill rig hoisting, rotary and pumping equipment used to drill gas and oil wells. Working as part of a team, directs drilling crews activities in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. As immediate supervisor he is responsible for operational safety and performance of rig crew.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Verifies required activity permits are completed properly and in a timely manner
  • Performing and documenting safety, spill prevention and pre-job meetings as required
  • Promotes DDI's safety and hazard recognition programs
  • Documents drilling/tripping activities and maintaining records as required
  • Prepares and submits required reports in a timely manner
  • Schedule and document rig crew working hours
  • Recommends and documents employee disciplinary actions
  • Conducts performance reviews on all crew members
  • Control drills that bore into the earth
  • Determine whether pipe is raised or lowered
  • Keep records of the footage drilled and materials used
  • Trains and verifies employee's competence to perform jobs assigned
  • Ensures all operations are performed in a safe, professional, efficient manner
  • Verify proper maintenance and operation of equipment
  • Ensure rig crew and equipment are competent to perform emergency operations
  • Maintains clear communications with crew, relief, Toolpusher and customer representative
  • Follow DDI and customer operating and reporting procedures
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 4 or more years' experience associated with this positon (e.g, driller, assistant driller, motorman)
  • Certificate of Completion in Well Control (Driller, Surface Stack only)
  • NSTC (North Slope Training Certificate)
  • First aid/CPR
  • Valid driver's license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Alaska on/off shore experience
  • Amphion control system experience

WORKING ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to extreme weather conditions both on and off shore. Temperatures reach as low as 50 degrees below zero during the winter months. Employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places, extreme heat and high noise levels. Employee will be required to work at various heights on the rig. Employee will work in an environment where there is risk that they will be exposed to toxic, caustic and/or hazardous chemicals, fumes or airborne particles. Workers are required to wear personal protective equipment while on the job.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
An individual will be required to work the majority of hours in a remote industrial environment, and will need to be able to quickly respond to a change in work demands. Occasional lifting up to (1-50 lbs.) is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
