The business end of the Permian Basin runs through Midland, TX, a west Texas city whose oil economy ties the healthcare market's rhythm right to the rig counts. Travel contracts across the local market span emergency department, intensive care, and surgical floor unit roles, with hiring demand that holds up through the booms. The downtown museum's petroleum exhibits explain the basin's geology and boom history well. The George W. Bush childhood home keeps a piece of presidential history preserved on a quiet residential block downtown. The cost of housing swing with the oilfield; checking current rates before committing matters more here than most markets. Odessa lies about twenty minutes west, effectively one market, and Big Bend's desert mountains wait about three hours south for the adventurous weekend.
