Job description


The Field Service Technician is responsible for the installation, commissioning, inspection, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of NOV Service Equipment products at customer locations. This role provides frontline technical support, delivers customer training, and ensures equipment is safely installed, maintained, and operating at peak performance while maintaining the highest standards of customer service and safety.
Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities
  • Install, commission, inspect, test, calibrate, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain NOV equipment and systems at customer sites.
  • Champion technical knowledge of NOV products, including their safe operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance, equipment diagnostics, failure analysis, and recommend improvements to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
  • Conduct hardware and software upgrades of NOV systems and verify proper system operation.
  • Train customers in safe operation, maintenance, and best practices for NOV equipment.
  • Prepare accurate and timely service reports, maintenance documentation, technical reports, and required field paperwork.
  • Communicate equipment performance, field issues, and customer feedback to internal support and engineering teams.
  • Maintain and promote professional relationships with internal and external customers
  • Perform additional duties as assigned while complying with all NOV policies and Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) requirements.
  • Uphold and execute team processes and standards for operational efficiency.

Work Environment
  • Travel required: 75%+.
  • Ability to work extended shifts (12+ hours), non-standard schedules, and participate in an on-call rotation supporting 24/7 operations.
  • Must be capable of working safely in industrial and field environments while adhering to all NOV HSE policies and procedures.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must have HS Diploma or GED.
  • Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of technical field service, maintenance, or related industrial experience preferred. Examples may include I/E Technicians, I/A Technicians, Industrial Electricians, Electronic Technicians, and PCN Administrators.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills; electrical background preferred.
  • Knowledge of oil and gas equipment, industrial hardware/software, and networking concepts is a plus. Knowledge of edge computing is a plus.
  • Core and competent comprehension of Microsoft Office suite applications
  • Routinely perform core competencies such organizational skills, planning skills, customer orientation, and project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Must successfully pass a background check, driving record review, drug screening, and physical examination.
