Job Title: Well Check Operator (Tubing Inspection)

Location: Bakersfield, California (Traveling required)
Employment Type: Full-Time/Temp-to-Hire


Position Overview

Legacy Staffing is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Well Check Operator on behalf of an oilfield services client. This role is responsible for leading on-site tubing inspection activities during well pulling and workover operations. The position involves operating specialized inspection equipment, evaluating pipe integrity, and delivering accurate, real-time classification of tubing in accordance with API standards.

This is a hands-on, field-based position requiring strong technical expertise, leadership, and the ability to perform in demanding environments.


Key ResponsibilitiesInspection Operations
  • Operate mobile Well Check systems, including Sonoscope EMI, Isolog, and eddy current equipment
  • Inspect tubing for internal and external corrosion, defects, and integrity issues
  • Ensure accurate classification of tubing (reusable vs. rejected) based on standards
Job Execution
  • Lead on-site inspection activities during well pulling and workover operations
  • Coordinate setup and teardown of inspection equipment
  • Deliver accurate, real-time reporting on pipe condition to stakeholders
  • Ensure efficient workflow and adherence to project timelines
Compliance & Safety
  • Follow all company safety policies and procedures
  • Maintain compliance with DOT regulations and hours-of-service requirements
  • Promote a strong safety culture in all field operations
Data Management
  • Track, document, and report inspection data accurately
  • Maintain organized records for reporting and analysis
Customer Communication
  • Communicate directly with rig personnel regarding inspection findings
  • Provide clear explanations of tubing condition and classification results
Qualifications
  • Prior experience in oilfield services, specifically tubing inspection or workover operations preferred
  • Proficiency operating inspection technologies such as EMI or eddy current systems
  • Strong understanding of API standards and tubing evaluation practices
  • Valid driver's license with ability to transport mobile equipment
Work Environment & Requirements
  • Ability to work in high-pressure, fast-paced environments
  • Availability for 24/7 operations, including nights and weekends
