Job description

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Remote Contract Oil & Gas Attorney to join our confidential client's legal team. This role is perfect for a dedicated legal professional with a strong background in oil and gas law, specifically in writing title opinions for properties in West Virginia, Ohio, and/or Pennsylvania. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail and a thorough understanding of the legal intricacies involved in the oil and gas industry.
Responsibilities:
  • Conduct thorough title examinations and prepare detailed title opinions for oil and gas properties in West Virginia, Ohio, and/or Pennsylvania.
  • Review and analyze property records, including deeds, leases, and other legal documents, to determine ownership and title status.
  • Identify and resolve title defects and issues, providing clear and concise recommendations for curative actions.
  • Collaborate with landmen, clients, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and documentation.
  • Stay up-to-date with state-specific laws, regulations, and industry standards related to oil and gas title opinions.
  • Draft and review legal documents related to oil and gas transactions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide legal advice and guidance to clients on matters related to oil and gas title opinions and property rights.
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of all title examinations and opinions.
Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active state bar membership in good standing.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in oil and gas law, with a focus on writing title opinions.
  • Strong understanding of property law, title examination, and curative processes in West Virginia, Ohio, and/or Pennsylvania.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and title examination software.
  • Familiarity with state-specific oil and gas regulations and industry standards.
